Our work: Charlie’s story

Here at Mediablaze Group, we are passionate about creating meaningful content — even more so when we can support a good cause with it.

Charlie Young was diagnosed with testicular cancer in October 2012, aged 30, and was treated at the Royal Marsden for three and a half years. Unfortunately, the symptoms were unusual and by the time he was diagnosed, the cancer had spread to lymph nodes in his chest, neck, and stomach.

His wife Jess says, “In May 2016 my husband Charlie sadly passed away from testicular cancer at the age of 34 after an incredibly hard fought battle spanning three and a half years.”

“I could think of no better way to honour his memory than having a charity cricket tournament to raise money for the two charities, Royal Marsden and Royal Trinity Hospice, which helped to support Charlie when it mattered the most,” continues Jess. “I want to make this event a success!”

Charlie was an avid cricket fan and conceived this event before he passed away in May 2016. He wanted it to be a family friendly day out with food, drink, fundraising and of course a spot of cricket.


This is where Mediablaze Group came in. We pulled together a dedicated team of designers, developers and copywriters and created the website Cricket Balls to Cancer, a platform where people can find information about the event, buy tickets and donate in Charlie’s memory.

“Mediablaze have gone to such an incredible effort to help me build this website. The site surpassed all my expectations and I have had so much positive feedback from people who have used it,” comments Jess. “I love the design and the copywriters have made it flow in a way that I could not have thought up. I can’t thank them enough for all their hard work and support”.
